Restoring Marriage in California!

Praise God for the victory of restoring marriage in California as being as He intends, and has stated in His Word: the union of one man and one woman!

Fox News has reported that California voters passed Proposition 8, overturning a state Supreme Court decision that granted gay couples the right to wed months ago.

Of course, the war of good against evil continues.

Within moments of the announcement that YES on Proposition 8 passed here in California, The San Francisco City Attorney's office says he plans to challenge the validity of the ballot measure that would change the state constitution to ban gay marriage.

Although the presidential election results lead me to mourn for this nation, I praise God that He is still on the throne of heaven. Through prayer, fasting and work, thousands of the faithful in Jesus Christ had their pleadings and prayers to restore marriage here in California answered!

This decision will stave off what would have been a tsunami of liberal judge rulings across our nation to force same-sex marriage upon an electorate that does not want the definition of marriage changed by judicial fiat!

Praise Jesus!

Christine

P.S. - Just a note to anyone who happens to visit here and is mourning this decision. You will not have your right to have a CIVIL UNION with your same-sex partner as a result of this decision. It will just have to be called something else - not marriage.

Those who tried to call our position "hate" - listen up. This was NOT done to hurt you or your partners. I have attended many church functions that spelled out the necessity of preserving biblical marriage.

Christians who believe and follow God's Word rose up in droves to say, "homosexual activists and your supporters (including radical liberal rogue judges) - you have gone to far."

I am asking each of you for tolerance and respect towards those who have voted to restore the traditional, thousands-of-years-old, definition and meaning of marriage here in California. Tolerance is not a one-way street - although the homosexual lobby wants to make it seem that way.

One last point. Those who voted YES ON PROPOSITION 8 are not "bigots." The Christians who follow God's Word know this. It is time that the public realizes this, too.

To those who refuse to show tolerance and respect for the decision rendered by voters here in California - and wish to continue their vitriole of labeling us "bigots" - here is what BIGOT means for me:

Bible
Is
God's
Only
Truth

Rose up in droves? You are quite certain about this? It passed by just 400,000 votes--52% to 48%. In 2000 it was 60%. That is quite the drop in support. Nearly 5 million people voted no. Like other Christian groups who supported Prop. 8, you just can't get yourself to print out such a drop of support.

And as you point out, this isn't over.
And yes, I know this isn't a supportive message on Prop. 8. But I figure you shouldn't mislead your readers into thinking this was a swamping. It wasn't.

Kevin,

We had a pastor from Sweden - Ake Green visit our church a few weeks ago and his riveting story about how his freedom of religion rights were abused because of "gay" marriage and hate crimes laws in Sweden had quite an effect upon the congregation. His story was also shared via a webcast (I think) later that day which was sent and viewed by various church congregations.

You can read about the Ake Green's case history at the link above.

I only glanced through the info at that link, but I was already familiar with Green's prison sentence and trial.

One thing that isn't included in that article is the fact that the prosecutor wanted the entire sermon shown (or heard) in the courtroom. Next, the public demanded to hear the sermon. Apparently, the gospel message (which was included in the sermon) was preached to the entire state of Sweden!

What man has meant for evil - God had turned to good.

Pastor Green had a warning and message for us. It is far better to PREVENT gay marriage and hate crime laws from taking hold in a nation than to defend oneself after the fact.

Note this excerpt:

For the time being, this new Swedish law - that was shown to violate the EU Convention on Human Rights with respect to Freedom of Speech and Religion - is still very much the law in Sweden. It has not been repealed and no changes have been made or are under consideration. So, the very law that violates the European Convention still remains as something of a hammer that muzzles the free preaching of the Bible in this area. After all, which pastor wants to go through the time and expense of the legal harassment (not to mention the threats and ridicule) that befell Pastor Green.

This is why Bible-based Christians fought so hard to keep marriage as the union of a man and a woman. There was much more at stake than originally meets the eye...of discerning Christians...that is.

I am glad to see gay marriage defeated on each ballot it appeared. What baffles me most about this is that marriage was created by God. It's definition is in the Bible; therefore it's part of relgion (church). Our country believes in the separation of church in state. I still don't understand how the state can redefine something that is defined by God without stepping over the boundaries of church and state. It's impossible. I recently wrote a blog on this very subject.
